Evelyn Joyce “Evie” Ham passed away on Monday, January 7th. She was 90 years old and enjoyed good health until late in her twilight years. The youngest of 3 sisters, all whom became nurses, Evelyn quickly rose to the top of her profession. Upon graduating from Methodist School of Nursing, she joined Methodist Hospital, becoming an emergency room head nurse during the night shift. She held this position for years before going into private practice. She maintained her employment in the medical industry until her retirement at 80 years of age.
Always active, Evie was a member of the Indianapolis Ski Club where she skied several continents, led many trips, and held several offices. A seasoned traveler, she hot air ballooned in Africa and enjoyed visiting the Caribbean and Mexico. Evie became passionate about ballroom dancing and won many awards at competitions around the country.
Services will be held at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis, IN on January 19th. The viewing will be held from noon until 2:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow.
